Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Say, [O Muhammad], "It has been revealed to me that a group of the jinn listened and said, 'Indeed, we have heard an amazing Qur'an. 1 ‘That guides to the path of goodness, we have therefore accepted faith in it; and we shall never ascribe anyone as a partner to our Lord.’ 2 'And exalted be the Majesty of our Lord, He has taken neither a wife, nor a son (or offspring or children). 3 'And that the foolish among us [i.e. Iblis (Satan) or the polytheists amongst the jinns] used to utter against Allah that which was wrong and not right. 4 and we had thought that men and jinn would never speak against God a lie. 5 'True, there were persons among mankind who took shelter with persons among the Jinns, but they increased them in folly. 6 They thought, as you did, that God would never raise up anyone from the dead. 7 And we have sought [to reach] the heaven but found it filled with powerful guards and burning flames. 8 We would sit there on seats to hear; but any listening now finds a meteor in wait for him. 9 we cannot tell if this bodes evil to those who dwell on earth or whether their Lord intends to guide them. 10 For some of us are upright and some otherwise: Surely we follow different ways. 11 And we know that we cannot escape from Allah in the earth, nor can we escape by flight. 12 When we heard the call to guidance, we believed in it. He who believes in his Lord has no fear of loss or of injustice. 13 and that “among us some are Muslims (Those who have submitted to Allah), and some of us are deviant. So those who became Muslims found the Right Course; 14 And as for the deviators, for Hell they shall be fuel. 15 If they had followed the Path We would give to them abundant water to drink, 16 and tested them with it. And whosoever turns away from his Lord's Remembrance, He will hurl him into a stern punishment. 17 The places of worship belong to God; so call not, along with God, upon anyone. 18 and when Allah's servant stood up to call on Him, they well-nigh swarmed him. 19
