Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ SAY: "It has been revealed to me that some of the unseen beings gave ear [to this divine writ,] and thereupon said [unto their fellow-beings]: "'Verily, we have heard a wondrous discourse, 1 guiding to rectitude. We believe in it, and we will not associate with our Lord anyone. 2 for [we know] that sublimely exalted is our Sustainer's majesty: no consort has He ever taken unto Himself, nor a son! 3 And that our foolish one has been saying about Allah an excessive transgression. 4 and that “we had thought that men and jinn would never speak a lie about Allah”, 5 "Certain human beings sought refuge with certain jinn and this increased the rebelliousness of those jinn. 6 'And they (came to) think as ye thought, that Allah would not raise up any one (to Judgment). 7 (The jinn continued saying): "We made our way towards heaven, but we found it filled with stern guards and a flame. 8 We used to sit near by and try to listen to the heavens, but shooting flames now await those who try to do that. 9 And we do not know [therefore] whether evil is intended for those on earth or whether their Lord intends for them a right course. 10 and that “some of us are upright and some of us are otherwise for we follow widely divergent paths”; 11 We knew that we could never challenge God whether we stayed on earth or fled elsewhere. 12 'And indeed when we heard the Guidance (this Quran), we believed therein (Islamic Monotheism), and whosoever believes in his Lord shall have no fear, either of a decrease in the reward of his good deeds or an increase in punishment for his sins. 13 "'Yet [it is true] that among us are such as have surrendered themselves to God - just as there are among us such as have abandoned themselves to wrongdoing. Now as for those who surrender themselves to Him - it is they that have attained to consciousness of what is right; 14 But those who are iniquitous will be fuel for Hell. 15 (Say): "If they keep to the right path We shall give them water in abundance to drink 16 "That We might try them by that (means). But if any turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, He will cause him to undergo a severe Penalty. 17 And the prostrations are for Allah; wherefore call not along with Allah anyone. 18 and when Allah's servant stood up to call on Him, they well-nigh swarmed him. 19
