Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O thou wrapped up in thy raiment! 1 Stay up the night long save a little 2 Half of it, or lessen it a little, 3 Or add to it, and recite the Qur'an with measured recitation. 4 Soon shall We send down to thee a weighty Message. 5 Indeed getting up in the night is tougher, and the words flow with strength. 6 You have by day prolonged occupations. 7 So remember the name of thy Lord and devote thyself with a complete devotion - 8 He is the Lord of the east and the west, there is no deity but Him, so take Him as your Guardian. 9 And bear thou patiently what they say, and forsake them graciously. 10 Leave it to Me to deal with the deniers, who live a life of comfort, and bear with them a little longer. 11 for, behold, heavy fetters [await them] with Us, and a blazing fire, 12 and food that chokes, and a painful chastisement, 13 on the Day the earth and mountains shall shake and the mountains crumble into shifting sand dunes. 14 Surely We have sent to you an Apostle, a witness against you, as We sent an apostle to Firon. 15 But the Pharaoh disobeyed the apostle; so We seized him with a grievous punishment. 16 If you persist in disbelieving, how will you guard yourself against the (woe of the) Day that will turn children grey-haired, 17 The Day when the heavens will be rent asunder and God's promise shall be fulfilled. 18 This, surely, is an admonition. So let him who will, take the right path to his Lord. 19
