In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O you who wraps himself [in clothing], 1 keep vigil the night, except a little 2 Half of it,- or a little less, 3 or a little more; and with recitation, recite the Koran. 4 We are about to cast upon you a weighty Word. 5 Indeed, the first part of night is heavier in tread, and more upright in speech. 6 You have by day prolonged occupations [with Dawah work]. 7 And remember the name of your Lord and, leaving others, devote yourself solely to Him. 8 Lord of the East and Lord of the West – there is no God except Him, therefore make Him your sole Trustee of affairs. 9 Bear patiently whatever they say, do not yield to them and keep on preaching decently to them. 10 And let Me alone with the beliers, owners of ease: and respite thou them a little. 11 We have prepared for them fetters, flaming fire, 12 And a food that choketh and a torment afflictive. 13 On the Day when the earth with all its mountains quake and the mountains become heaps of shifting sand. 14 Surely We have sent to you an Apostle, a witness against you, as We sent an apostle to Firon. 15 But Pharaoh rebelled against the messenger, whereupon We seized him with no gentle grip. 16 Then how shall ye, if ye deny (Allah), guard yourselves against a Day that will make children hoary-headed?- 17 On that day, the heavens will be rent asunder. This is the decree of God which has already been ordained. 18 Verily this is an admonition; let him therefore, who will, choose a way unto his Lord. 19
