The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O you who are clothed! 1 Arise, and warn, 2 And your Lord do magnify, 3 And thy garments keep free from stain! 4 And uncleanness do shun, 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 And persevere in the way of your Lord. 7 And [warn all men that] when the trumpet-call [of resurrection] is sounded, 8 that very Day shall be a day of anguish, 9 It will not be easy for those who deny the truth. 10 Leave him to Me whom I created alone, 11 and designated for him ample wealth, 12 and sons standing before him, 13 and made all things smooth for him; 14 and who still desires more. 15 By no means! He has been stubbornly hostile to Our revelation: 16 On him I shall impose a fearful doom. 17 For lo! he did consider; then he planned - 18 So let him be cursed! How he plotted! 19 Again, death seized him, how was his determining! 20 Then he thought; 21 Then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then he turned back and was haughty; 23 and says, "All this is mere spellbinding eloquence handed down [from olden times]! 24 It is nothing but the word of a mortal' 25 I will cast him into hell. 26 and what will teach thee what is Sakar? 27 It shall not spare, nor leave. 28 Scorching the skin. 29 Over it are Nineteen. 30 And We have set none but angels as Guardians of the Fire; and We have fixed their number only as a trial for Unbelievers,- in order that the People of the Book may arrive at certainty, and the Believers may increase in Faith,- and that no doubts may be left for the People of the Book and the Believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the Unbelievers may say, "What symbol doth Allah intend by this?" Thus doth Allah leave to stray whom He pleaseth, and guide whom He pleaseth: and none can know the forces of thy Lord, except He and this is no other than a warning to mankind. 31
