The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise, and warn. 2 Thy Lord magnify, 3 And your garments purify! 4 And all abomination shun! 5 do not bestow a favour in the expectation of receiving more in return; 6 And persevere in the way of your Lord. 7 When the Horn is blown, 8 that will surely be a hard day, 9 For the infidels, not easy. 10 Leave Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 To whom I granted resources in abundance, 12 And sons to be by his side!- 13 and whom I have provided with every resource, 14 And yet he desires that I should add more! 15 By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. 16 Soon will I visit him with a mount of calamities! 17 Indeed he thought, and inwardly decided. 18 May he be condemned! 19 Again (self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! - 20 Then he considered [again]; 21 then he frowned and scowled, 22 then turned back, and swelling-up with pride, 23 said, "This (the Quran) is nothing but magic, inherited from ancient magicians. 24 Nothing more than the speech of a man!" 25 Him shall I soon roast in Hell. 26 and what will teach thee what is Sakar? 27 It shall not spare, nor leave. 28 Scorching the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen keepers. 30 We have not appointed the guards of hell, except angels; and did not keep this number except to test the disbelievers – in order that the People given the Book(s) may be convinced, and to increase the faith of the believers – and so that the People given the Book(s) and the Muslims may not have any doubt – and so that those in whose hearts is a disease and the disbelievers, may say, “What does Allah mean by this amazing example?” This is how Allah sends astray whomever He wills, and guides whomever He wills; and no one knows the armies of Allah except Him; and this is not but an advice to man. 31
