The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 stand up, deliver your warning, 2 and magnify the glory of your Lord, 3 And your garments purify! 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 and be patient unto thy Lord. 7 Finally, when the Trumpet is sounded, 8 that day will be a harsh day, 9 For the infidels, not easy. 10 Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. 11 And for whom I appointed wealth extended. 12 and sons standing before him, 13 And made several preparations for him. 14 Yet he desires that I should give more. 15 Never! For he is an enemy to Our signs! 16 On him I shall impose a fearful doom. 17 He reflected, and then determined 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 Again, ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 20 Then he beheld, 21 then he frowned, and scowled, 22 then turned back, and swelling-up with pride, 23 And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]. 24 It is nothing but the word of a mortal' 25 [Hence,] I shall cause him to endure hell-fire [in the life to come]! 26 And what will make you know exactly what Hell-fire is? 27 It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. 28 It scorches the mortal. 29 there are nineteen [angels] in charge of it -- 30 And We have set none but angels as Guardians of the Fire; and We have fixed their number only as a trial for Unbelievers,- in order that the People of the Book may arrive at certainty, and the Believers may increase in Faith,- and that no doubts may be left for the People of the Book and the Believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the Unbelievers may say, "What symbol doth Allah intend by this?" Thus doth Allah leave to stray whom He pleaseth, and guide whom He pleaseth: and none can know the forces of thy Lord, except He and this is no other than a warning to mankind. 31
