The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Rise up and warn! 2 proclaim the greatness of your Lord, 3 And thy garments keep free from stain! 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 and do not think that by doing such deeds, you have done a great favor to God. 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 And [warn all men that] when the trumpet-call [of resurrection] is sounded, 8 that very Day shall be a day of anguish, 9 It will not be easy for those who deny the truth. 10 Leave him to Me whom I created alone, 11 And to whom I granted extensive wealth 12 And sons to be by his side!- 13 And for whom I smoothed everything. 14 After all that he desires that I should give more; 15 Never will he receive more. He has been hostile to Our revelations. 16 [and so] I shall constrain him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 And woe to him! How he plotted!- 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 Then he looked, 21 Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way; 22 and in the end he turns his back [on Our message,] and glories in his arrogance, 23 And said, “This is nothing but magic learnt from earlier men.” 24 This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I will soon fling him into hell. 26 And what knoweth thou that which the Scorching Fire? 27 It leaveth naught; it spareth naught 28 it scorches the skin; 29 over it are nineteen. 30 We have appointed none but angels as the keepers of the Fire, and We have not made their number but as a trial for the unbelievers so that those who have been endowed with the Book will be convinced and the believers' faith will increase, and neither those who have been endowed with the Book nor the believers will fall into any doubt. As for those in whose hearts there is a sickness as well as the unbelievers, they will say: “What did Allah aim at by this strange parable?” Thus does Allah let whomsoever He pleases to go astray, and directs whomsoever He pleases to the Right Way. And none knows the hosts of your Lord but He. (And Hell has only been mentioned here) that people may take heed. 31
