The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 stand up, deliver your warning, 2 proclaim the greatness of your Lord, 3 And thine inner self purify! 4 And uncleanness do shun, 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 and be patient unto thy Lord. 7 For when the trumpet blows 8 That, at that time, shall be a difficult day, 9 Not easy upon the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me with him whom I alone have created, 11 and designated for him ample wealth, 12 and children living in his presence, 13 And made life smooth and comfortable for him! 14 then he is eager that I should do more. 15 Never. He is refractory of Our signs. 16 We shall make him suffer the torment of hell without relief. 17 Indeed he thought, and inwardly decided. 18 Perish he! How maliciously he devised! 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 Then he looked, 21 then frowned and scowled; 22 Then turned he away in pride 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 This is nothing but the word of mortal man!" 25 Him shall I soon roast in Hell. 26 And what will explain to thee what Hell-Fire is? 27 It does not allow anyone to live, and neither does it leave anyone to die; 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen keepers. 30 And We have appointed none but the angels to be wardens of the Fire. And their number we have made only a trial for those who disbelieve, so that those who are vouchsafed the Book may be convinced, and that those who believe may increase in faith, and that those who are vouchsafed the Book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the infidels may say: what meaneth Allah by this description! In this wise Allah sendeth astray whomsoever He will, and guideth whomsoever He will. And none knoweth the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but an admonition unto man. 31
