The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you enveloped in your cloak! 1 Arise and warn, 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 And uncleanliness avoid 5 And bestow not favors that you may receive again with increase, 6 And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. 7 When the Horn is blown, 8 it will be a hard day 9 not an easy day for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me with him whom I alone have created, 11 And for whom I appointed wealth extended. 12 and sons to be by his side, 13 And made things easy for them. 14 Yet is he greedy-that I should add (yet more);- 15 Never will he receive more. He has been hostile to Our revelations. 16 I shall oblige him to (climb a slippery mountain in the Hell-fire called As-Sa'ud, or to) face a severe torment! 17 Indeed, he thought and deliberated. 18 So accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 He then dared to lift his gaze. 21 then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then he turned back and was arrogant 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 Him shall I soon roast in Hell. 26 - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - 27 Naught doth it permit to endure, and naught doth it leave alone!- 28 and it burns the flesh. 29 Over it are nineteen [powers]. 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
