The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O thou enveloped! 1 Arise, and warn. 2 Glorify your Lord, 3 And thy garments keep free from stain! 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 and do not think that by doing such deeds, you have done a great favor to God. 6 And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. 7 When the trumpet is sounded,. 8 it will be a hard day 9 Far from easy for the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone, (to deal) with the (creature) whom I created (bare and) alone!- 11 and designated for him ample wealth, 12 and sons that stand in witness. 13 And made several preparations for him. 14 And who yet coveteth that shall increase. 15 Never! For he is an enemy to Our signs! 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 Verily he considered, and devised. 18 Perish he! How maliciously he devised! 19 Again accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 20 Then he looked, 21 Then frowned and grimaced. 22 Then he turned back and was proud; 23 and says, "All this is mere spellbinding eloquence handed down [from olden times]! 24 "This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I will cast him into Hell-fire 26 And what will explain to thee what Hell-Fire is? 27 It spares not (any sinner), nor does it leave (anything unburnt)! 28 Burning the skins! 29 Over it are nineteen. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
