The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O thou enveloped in thy cloak, 1 Arise and warn! 2 And thy Lord do thou magnify! 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 And pollution shun. 5 And bestow not favors that you may receive again with increase, 6 But, for thy Lord's (Cause), be patient and constant! 7 So when the Trumpet will be blown. 8 that very Day shall be a day of anguish, 9 For the infidels, not easy. 10 Leave Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 And gave him vast wealth. 12 And gave him sons present before him. 13 And made life smooth and comfortable for him! 14 And who yet coveteth that shall increase. 15 Not at all! Surely, he has been disobedient to Our verses. 16 I shall force him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 He reflected, and then determined 18 But may he be cursed how he plotted; 19 May be then be accursed, how he plotted! 20 Then he beheld, 21 Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way; 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 and said: “This (Qur'an) is merely a sorcery of yore; 24 This is naught else than speech of mortal man. 25 Soon I will cast him into hell. 26 And what do you know what Hell is? 27 It does not allow anyone to live, and neither does it leave anyone to die; 28 It scorches the mortal. 29 Over it are nineteen keepers. 30 And We have set none but angels as Guardians of the Fire; and We have fixed their number only as a trial for Unbelievers,- in order that the People of the Book may arrive at certainty, and the Believers may increase in Faith,- and that no doubts may be left for the People of the Book and the Believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the Unbelievers may say, "What symbol doth Allah intend by this?" Thus doth Allah leave to stray whom He pleaseth, and guide whom He pleaseth: and none can know the forces of thy Lord, except He and this is no other than a warning to mankind. 31

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
