The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Rise up and warn! 2 And your Lord do magnify, 3 thy robes purify 4 stay away from sins 5 Do not bestow favours in expectation of return, 6 And for the good-will of thy Lord be thou patient. 7 Then, when the Trumpet is sounded (i.e. its second blowing); 8 that very Day shall be a day of anguish, 9 For the disbelievers - not easy. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 and to whom I have granted resources vast, 12 and sons standing before him, 13 I made things smooth and easy for him, 14 And yet he desires that I should add more! 15 Never will he receive more. He has been hostile to Our revelations. 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 Indeed, he thought and deliberated. 18 So may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 19 And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted! 20 Then he beheld, 21 then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then turned he away in pride 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 This is naught else than speech of mortal man. 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 It does not allow to live, and neither leaves [to die,] 28 Blackening the skins. 29 Over it are appointed nineteen. 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
