The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O thou wrapped up (in the mantle)! 1 Arise and warn 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 and purify your robes, 4 And banish all trepidation. 5 And bestow not favour that thou mayest receive more. 6 and for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 For when the Trump is sounded 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 Far from easy for the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 and whom I have provided with every resource, 14 and who still greedily desires that I should bestow upon him more. 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 Soon I shall mount him on Saood, the hill of fire. 17 Indeed he thought, and inwardly decided. 18 So may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 19 And again perish he! How maliciously he devised! 20 He then dared to lift his gaze. 21 Then frowned and grimaced. 22 then he retreated, and waxed proud. 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 “This is nothing but the speech of a man.” 25 Him shall I soon roast in Hell. 26 And what could make thee conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It spares nothing; it leaves nothing intact; 28 Blackening the skins. 29 Over it are nineteen (guards). 30 We have appointed none but angels as the keepers of the Fire, and We have not made their number but as a trial for the unbelievers so that those who have been endowed with the Book will be convinced and the believers' faith will increase, and neither those who have been endowed with the Book nor the believers will fall into any doubt. As for those in whose hearts there is a sickness as well as the unbelievers, they will say: “What did Allah aim at by this strange parable?” Thus does Allah let whomsoever He pleases to go astray, and directs whomsoever He pleases to the Right Way. And none knows the hosts of your Lord but He. (And Hell has only been mentioned here) that people may take heed. 31
