▼ 74 The Hidden Secret
Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
No, by the moon! 32 And the night when on the wane, 33 and the dawn when it is white, 34 hell is certainly the greatest calamity. 35 A warning to mankind, 36 whether one steps forward to embrace the faith or one turns away from it. 37 [On the Day of Judgment,] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever [evil] he has wrought 38 Save those who will stand on the right hand. 39 In Gardens they will question 40 Concerning the guilty: 41 "What has brought you into the Fire of Hell ?" 42 They shall say: We were not of those who prayed; 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 "But we used to talk vanities with vain talkers; 45 and belied the Day of Recompense 46 until death approached us". 47 So the intercession of the intercessors will not benefit them. (The disbelievers will not have any intercessor.) 48 What is the matter with people that they are turning away from this Exhortation, 49 as though they were frightened wild asses, 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 No indeed; each one of them desires that open letters be sent to each of them. 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 Nay, verily, this is an admonition 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 And they will not receive admonition unless Allah wills; He (Allah) is the One, deserving that mankind should be afraid of, and should be dutiful to Him, and should not take any Ilah (God) along with Him, and He is the One Who forgives (sins). 56

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
