Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
Nay, and by the moon, 32 And by the night when it withdraws, 33 and the morn when it dawns! 34 It is surely one of the greater, 35 A warning for people -- 36 Unto him of you who will advance or hang back. 37 Every person is a pledge for what he has earned, 38 except the Companions of the Right. 39 who shall be in the Gardens, and shall ask 40 About the criminals, 41 'What caused you to be thrust into the Scorching (Fire)' 42 They shall say: We were not of those who prayed; 43 And did not feed the needy, 44 And we have been wading with the waders. 45 "And used to deny the Day of Justice." 46 until the Inevitable End [death] overtook us." 47 The mediation of no mediators will avail them then. 48 Then what is wrong with them that they turn away from admonition, 49 As though they were asses startled. 50 That had fled from a lion? 51 Is it that everyone of them wants to receive a heavenly book addressed to him personally? 52 Nay! But they fear not the Hereafter (from Allah's punishment). 53 There is no doubt that the Quran is a guide. 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 And they shall not heed unless Allah willeth. He is the Lord of piety, and the Lord of forgiveness. 56

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
