Nay, by the Moon 32 Consider the night when it departs, 33 And by oath of the morning, when it spreads light. 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 A warning unto humankind 36 A warning unto him of you who shall go forward or who chooseth to lag behind. 37 Every soul is held in pledge against its own deeds, 38 except the Companions of the Right. 39 In gardens they will ask one another 40 concerning the sinners, 41 "What led you into Hell Fire?" 42 They will say: we have not been of those who prayed. 43 and we did not feed the needy. 44 “And used to dwell on evil matters with those who think evilly.” 45 And we used to deny the Day of Recompense 46 until certainty came upon us [in death]." 47 Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. 48 If such will be the Day of Judgment, what is the matter with them? Why do they run away from guidance, 49 like frightened donkeys 50 That had fled from a lion? 51 In fact every one of them wants to be given open books (like the prophets). 52 Nay, verily. They fear not the Hereafter. 53 Never so, as this is a reminder. 54 Let him who will take heed: 55 But they [who do not believe in the life to come] will not take it to heart unless God so wills: [for] He is the Fount of all God-consciousness, and the Fount of all forgiveness. 56
