Nay, verily: By the Moon, 32 And by the night when it withdraws, 33 and by the day when it dawns (with its radiance), 34 surely it is one of the greatest things 35 It is a warning for mankind 36 Whoever of you desires to progress or lag behind. 37 Each one is a hostage to one's deeds, 38 except the Companions of the Right. 39 (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, 40 concerning the sinners, 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 They shall say, 'We were not of those who prayed, and 43 "Nor were we of those who fed the indigent; 44 and we were wont to indulge in sinning together with all [the others] who indulged in it; 45 And we used to call the day of judgment a lie; 46 until death approached us". 47 The mediation of no mediators will avail them then. 48 Then what is wrong with them that they turn away from admonition, 49 as though they were frightened wild asses, 50 fleeing before a lion? 51 Aye! every one of them desireth that: he should be vouchsafed scrolls expanded. 52 Nay, verily. They fear not the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily. Lo! this is an Admonishment. 54 So, whoever wills may benefit from it. 55 And they will not mind unless Allah please. He is worthy to be feared and worthy to forgive. 56
