Nay, by the moon, 32 And the night when it departs, 33 And by oath of the morning, when it spreads light. 34 surely (Hell) is one of the greatest Signs, 35 A warning for people -- 36 to whoever among you desires to go forward, or lag behind. 37 Every soul is pledged to what it does, 38 Except the companions of the right, 39 who in their gardens will be enquiring 40 about the guilty ones: 41 "What has brought you into the Fire of Hell ?" 42 They said, “We never used to offer the prayer.” 43 And did not feed the needy, 44 "And we used to talk falsehood (all that which Allah hated) with vain talkers. 45 and belied the Day of Recompense 46 “Till death overcame us.” 47 So, the intercession of intercessors will not avail them. 48 WHAT, THEN, is amiss with them that they turn away from all admonition 49 as if they were startled asses 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Indeed, each one of them desires to be given unrolled scrolls. 52 No, indeed they have no fear of the Everlasting Life. 53 Nay, verily, this is an admonition 54 Let him who will take heed: 55 And they will not remember except that Allah wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness. 56
