Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ By the Day of Resurrection, 1 Nay! I swear by the self-accusing soul. 2 Thinketh man that We shall not assemble his bones? 3 We certainly have the power to restore them even the very tips of their finger. 4 None the less man chooses to deny what lies ahead of him, 5 He asks: When is the day of resurrection? 6 Yet when the eyes are dazzled, 7 and the moon is darkened, 8 And the sun and moon will be joined together (by going one into the other or folded up or deprived of their light, etc.) 9 on that Day the human will ask: 'To (which place) shall I flee' 10 But nay: no refuge [for thee, O man]! 11 Upon that day the recourse shall be to thy Lord. 12 That Day will Man be told (all) that he put forward, and all that he put back. 13 But lo, man is well aware of himself, 14 in spite of all the excuses he may offer. 15 Move not thy tongue with it to hasten it; 16 We shall be responsible for its collection and its recitation. 17 And when We read it, follow thou the reading; 18 The exposition of its meaning surely rests on Us. 19 Human beings certainly do not want to pay much attention to the Quran. In fact, they love the worldly life 20 And neglect the Hereafter. 21 Some faces on that Day will be fresh and resplendent, 22 Waiting for their Lord. 23 and upon that day faces shall be scowling, 24 so they might think the Calamity had been inflicted upon them. 25 Yes indeed, when the soul will reach up to the throat. 26 and people ask, "Is there any wizard [that could save him]?" 27 And he (the dying person) will conclude that it was (the time) of departing (death); 28 And affliction is combined with affliction; 29 To your Lord, that Day, will be the procession. 30
