Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 and by the self-reproaching soul! 2 What, does the human think We shall never gather his bones? 3 Surely We are able to reform even his finger-tips. 4 But man wishes to do wrong (even) in the time in front of him. 5 he asks, "When is this Day of Resurrection to be?" 6 But when sight is confounded 7 and the moon is darkened, 8 and the sun and moon are brought together, 9 On that day man will cry: Whither to flee! 10 But nay: no refuge [for thee, O man]! 11 For on that Day the refuge shall be to your Lord. 12 On that Day will man be apprised of his deeds, both the earlier and the later. 13 Oh, but man is a telling witness against himself, 14 And even if he presents all the excuses he has, none will be listened to. 15 Do not forestall (the revelation before its completion) by acting in haste. 16 Surely it is for Us to have you commit it to memory and to recite it. 17 And when We read it, follow thou the reading; 18 Then lo! upon Us (resteth) the explanation thereof. 19 Nay, (ye men!) but ye love the fleeting life, 20 and neglect the Hereafter. 21 (Some) faces on that day shall be bright, 22 Looking to their Lord. 23 and some faces will on that Day be overcast with despair, 24 Fearing that a great disaster is going to befall them. 25 No! When the soul has reached the collar bones 26 and people ask, "Is there any wizard [that could save him]?" 27 And he knoweth that it is the parting; 28 And one shin will curl up with the other shin. 29 unto thy Lord that Day is the drive. 30
