Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Nay! I swear by the day of resurrection. 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching soul. 2 Does man think that We cannot assemble his bones? 3 Surely yes, why not? We can properly make all his phalanxes. 4 Yet man wants to deny what is ahead of him: 5 he asks, "When is this Day of Resurrection to be?" 6 but when the sight is dazed 7 And the moon will be eclipsed. 8 and the sun and the moon are joined together, 9 On that Day man will say: "Where (is the refuge) to flee?" 10 No, there is no refuge. 11 With thy Sustainer, on that Day, the journey's end will be! 12 Then man will be told what he had sent ahead (of good) and what he had left behind. 13 Oh, but man is a telling witness against himself, 14 Though he may put forth his excuses (to cover his evil deeds). 15 Do not move your tongue with it (the Revelation) to hasten it. 16 Ours it is to gather it, and to recite it. 17 So, as We recite it, follow its reading. 18 and then, it will be for Us to make its meaning clear. 19 No indeed; but you love the hasty world, 20 And neglect the hereafter. 21 That day will faces be resplendent, 22 Looking towards their Lord; 23 And (other) faces on that day shall be gloomy, 24 certain of facing a great calamity. 25 No! When the soul has reached the collar bones 26 and people ask, "Is there any wizard [that could save him]?" 27 And he bethinketh that it is the time of parting. 28 when his legs are brought together [when affliction is combined with affliction]; 29 on that Day he will be driven towards your Lord! 30
