Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I do call to witness the Resurrection Day; 1 And I call the reprehensive soul to witness: 2 Does man (a disbeliever) think that We shall not assemble his bones? 3 Surely We are able to reform even his finger-tips. 4 But man wishes to do wrong (even) in the time in front of him. 5 He asks, "When will be the Day of Judgment?" 6 When the sight is dazed, 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 And the sun and the moon will be united. 9 On that day man will cry out, “Where shall I flee?” 10 No, there is no refuge. 11 With your Lord alone will be the retreat that Day. 12 On that Day will man be apprised of his deeds, both the earlier and the later. 13 But lo, man is well aware of himself, 14 Although he may put forth his pleas. 15 Move not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur'an. 16 for, behold, it is for Us to gather it [in thy heart,] and to cause it to be read [as it ought to be read]. 17 And so when We recite it, follow its recitation attentively; 18 Then lo! upon Us (resteth) the explanation thereof. 19 Nay, (ye men!) but ye love the fleeting life, 20 and are heedless of the Everlasting Life. 21 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 22 Looking toward their Lord. 23 And [some] faces, that Day, will be contorted, 24 thou mightest think the Calamity has been wreaked on them. 25 Nay, but when the life cometh up to the throat 26 and it is said: “Is there any enchanter who can step forward and help (by his chanting)?” 27 the while he [himself] knows that this is the parting, 28 and when leg is intertwined with leg, 29 Unto thy Lord that day will be the driving. 30
