The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
WAS THERE NOT a time in the life of man when he was not even a mentionable thing? 1 We created man from a drop of mingled fluid so that We might try him; We gave him hearing and sight; 2 We showed him the right path whether he would be grateful or ungrateful. 3 Verily We! We have gotten ready for the infidels chains and collars and a Blaze. 4 But the righteous shall drink of a goblet mixed with camphor; 5 This will be a gushing spring wherefrom Allah's servants shall drink wine, a spring from which they will take out channels wherever they wish. 6 They fulfill their vow and dread a Day the evil whereof shall be widespreading. 7 And they feed, for the love of Allah, the indigent, the orphan, and the captive,- 8 (Saying): "We feed you for the sake of God, desiring neither recompense nor thanks. 9 "We only fear a Day of distressful Wrath from the side of our Lord." 10 So Allah saved them from the evil of that Day, and gave them Nadratan (a light of beauty) and joy. 11 and recompensed them for their patience with a Garden, and silk; 12 therein they shall recline upon couches, therein they shall see neither sun nor bitter cold; 13 And close down upon them (shall be) its shadows, and its fruits shall be made near (to them), being easy to reach. 14 They will be served with silver dishes and crystal clear goblets. 15 Crystal-clear, made of silver: they will determine the measure thereof (according to their wishes). 16 And therein they shall be given to drink a cup whose mixture is ginger, 17 A spring there, called Salsabil. 18 ۞ There will circulate among them young boys made eternal. When you see them, you would think them [as beautiful as] scattered pearls. 19 And when you look there [in Paradise], you will see pleasure and great dominion. 20 Upon them will be green Garments of fine silk and heavy brocade, and they will be adorned with Bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give to them to drink of a Wine Pure and Holy. 21 This is your reward. Your endeavour is fully acknowledged. 22
