The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Was there not a period of time when man was nothing worth mentioning? 1 Verily We! We created man from a sperm of mixtures, that We might prove him, wherefore We made him hearing, seeing. 2 We have indeed shown him the way – whether he is grateful or ingrate. 3 For the unbelievers, We have kept ready chains and fetters and a Blazing Fire. 4 Verily the pious shall drink of a cup whereof the admixture is like unto camphor. 5 which flows from a spring from which the servants of God will drink. 6 They fulfill their vow and dread a Day the evil whereof shall be widespreading. 7 And out of His love, they give food to the needy, the orphan and the prisoner. 8 They say to them, “We give you food, only for the sake of Allah – we do not seek any reward or thanks from you.” 9 Indeed, We fear from our Lord a Day austere and distressful." 10 So Allah shall guard them against the woe of that Day, and will procure them freshness and joy, 11 And gave them Paradise and silk clothes, as a reward for their patience. 12 therein they shall recline upon couches, therein they shall see neither sun nor bitter cold; 13 And the shades of the (Garden) will come low over them, and the bunches (of fruit), there, will hang low in humility. 14 And brought round amongst them will be vessels of silver and also goblets of glass. 15 Godblets of silver, they shall have filled them to exact measure. 16 And in that [paradise] they will be given to drink of a cup flavoured with ginger, 17 drawn from a spring (in Paradise) called Salsabil. 18 ۞ They will be attended by youths who will not age -- when you see them you will think them to be like sprinkled pearls -- 19 And when you see there, you shall see blessings and a great kingdom. 20 Upon the inhabitants will be green garments of fine silk and brocade. And they will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a purifying drink. 21 Behold, this is your recompense and your endeavour has been appreciated. 22
