The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 , A fitting reward. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
