The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
