The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 Living therein for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 Requital corresponding. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
