The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great news - 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 except boiling water and pus 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
