The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 , A fitting reward. 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
