The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
