The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 About the great tidings! 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
