The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 by those that swim serenely 3 Then press forward as in a race, 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 A Day shall come whereon the quaking will quake, 6 And the second followeth it, 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]? 10 even after we are fragmented bones' 11 They have said, "Such a resurrection will certainly be a great loss". 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 and behold, they are awakened. 14 Has not there come to you the story of Musa? 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 and say: "Will you purify yourself, 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 So he showed him the greater sign; 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 Then he went back hastily. 22 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, 23 and proclaimed, and he said, 'I am your Lord, the Most High!' 24 So God seized him for the punishment of the Hereafter and this world. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
