The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers); 2 And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming 3 and those that outstrip suddenly 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 and will be followed by another quaking. 7 (Some) hearts that Day will shake with fear and anxiety. 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 even though we may have become [a heap of] crumbling bones?" 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 [But,] then, that [Last Hour] will be [upon them of a sudden, as if it were] but a single accusing cry 13 and behold! They will all come out in the open. 14 Have you received the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa. 16 saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. 17 “Tell him ‘Do you have the inclination to become pure?’ 18 that I may direct you to your Lord and then you hold Him in awe?'” 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 but the Pharaoh rejected it and disobeyed (Moses). 21 Then he quickly turned his back. 22 And he summoned all his people, 23 and proclaimed, and he said, 'I am your Lord, the Most High!' 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
