The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; 1 by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers, 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 Then outpace the others swiftly 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion, 6 Followed by the second blast, 7 Hearts on that Day will be throbbing; 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]? 10 Even after we are crumbled bones? 11 They say: “That will then be a return with a great loss!” 12 But only, it will be a single Zajrah [shout (i.e., the second blowing of the Trumpet)]. (See Verse 37:19). 13 When, behold, they find themselves over the earth alive after their death, 14 Has not there come to you the story of Musa? 15 How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, 16 Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 Then he shewed him the great sign. 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 And he gathered [his people] and called out 23 Yet to a rich man, 24 So God seized him for the punishment of the Hereafter and this world. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
