The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 by the drawers (the angels of death), gently drawing (the souls of the believers), 2 by the angels who float (in the heavens by the will of God), 3 and the outstrippers (angels), outstripping, 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 Upon the day when the first blast shivers 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, 8 and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 even though we may have become [a heap of] crumbling bones?" 11 They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 Surely it will need but one shout, 13 When, behold, they find themselves over the earth alive after their death, 14 Has the story of Moses come to you 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 "Go unto Pharaoh - for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of what is right 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 Then Moses (went to Pharaoh and) showed him the Great Sign; 20 But (the Pharaoh) disavowed and disobeyed. 21 Then turned he away in haste, 22 Then he gathered (men) and called out. 23 Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all." 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 Surely, in this there is a lesson for he that fears! 26
