The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 and those that draw out violently, 2 and by [the clouds] that swim serenely and 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 by the managers (angels) affair. 5 On the Day (when the first blowing of the Trumpet is blown), the earth and the mountains will shake violently (and everybody will die), 6 There will follow it the subsequent [one]. 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 While eyes are downcast 9 They say: Shall we indeed be restored to (our) first state? 10 after we have become bones and dust?" 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 His Lord called to him in the Sacred Valley of Towa, 16 That “Go to Firaun – he has rebelled.” 17 And say (unto him): Hast thou (will) to grow (in grace)? 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 But (the Pharaoh) disavowed and disobeyed. 21 then he turned away hastily, 22 and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] 23 and proclaimed, and he said, 'I am your Lord, the Most High!' 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Lo! herein is indeed a lesson for him who feareth. 26
