The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 And [by] those who remove with ease 2 and by [the clouds] that swim serenely and 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion, 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 Eyes be lowered in submission. 9 They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]? 10 even after we have been reduced to bones, hollow and rotten?” 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 But it shall be only a single cry, 13 and behold, they are awakened. 14 Did the news of Moosa reach you? 15 When his Lord called to him in the holy valley, Towa: 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 "And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?- 18 Do you want me to guide you to your Lord, so that you should fear Him?'" 19 Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. 20 But he rejected (the truth) and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] 23 And said, "I am your most exalted lord." 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the hereafter and the former life. 25 Surely, in this there is a lesson for he that fears! 26
