The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By those [angels] who extract with violence 1 and gently take it away; 2 And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming 3 by the angels who hasten along 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion, 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 Hearts on that Day will be throbbing; 8 and their eyes will be humbled. 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They said, “So this return is an obvious loss!” 12 Surely it will need but one shout, 13 to bring them out of their graves and back to life on the earth's surface. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 When his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa. 16 'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. 17 “Tell him ‘Do you have the inclination to become pure?’ 18 And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'" 19 And he showed him the tremendous token. 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 Then he quickly turned his back. 22 And he gathered [his people] and called out 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 Thereupon Allah seized him for the chastisement of the World to Come as well as of the present. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
