The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By oath of those who harshly pull out the soul. (Of the disbeliever) 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming 3 Then those who are foremost going ahead, 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 On that Day some hearts shall tremble (with fright), 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 The disbelievers say, “Will we really return to our former state?” 10 even after we have been reduced to bones, hollow and rotten?” 11 They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 When, behold, they will be in the (full) awakening (to Judgment). 14 Has not there come to you the story of Musa? 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 and say to him: 'Are you willing to be purified, 18 Then I will guide thee to thy Lord and thou shalt fear (Him). 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 But he rejected (the truth) and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned away, deliberating, 22 So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Verily herein is lesson for him who feareth. 26
