The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 and those that draw out violently, 2 by the swimmers (angels) swimming gently 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 On the Day (when the first blowing of the Trumpet is blown), the earth and the mountains will shake violently (and everybody will die), 6 followed by the succeeding, 7 hearts will throb on that Day 8 [and] their eyes downcast... 9 They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]? 10 even after we have been reduced to bones, hollow and rotten?” 11 They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 But only, it will be a single Zajrah [shout (i.e., the second blowing of the Trumpet)]. (See Verse 37:19). 13 When, behold, they find themselves over the earth alive after their death, 14 Have you received the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 and say, 'Will you reform yourself? 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 Then he went back hastily. 22 and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the Everlasting Life, and of this world. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
