The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 by the swimmers (angels) swimming gently 3 and the outstrippers (angels), outstripping, 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 And the second followeth it, 7 On that Day some hearts shall tremble (with fright), 8 and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. 9 They say: Shall we indeed be restored to (our) first state? 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They will say: 'Then we are returned lost' 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 and behold! They will all come out in the open. 14 (Muhammad), have you heard the story of Moses 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 and directed him: “Go to Pharaoh, he has rebelled, 17 Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. 20 But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed. 21 and hastily turned away, 22 and gathered his people together 23 And said, "I am your most exalted lord." 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
