The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 And then they speed with foremost speed. 4 and then manage the affairs of the Universe (according to their Lord's commands). 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 The second blowing of the Trumpet follows it (and everybody will be raised up), 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 “When we have become decayed bones?” 11 They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 But it shall be only a single cry, 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. 15 When his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa. 16 That “Go to Firaun he has rebelled.” 17 And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)", 18 "'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'" 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 but he denied it and refused [the faith]. 21 then he turned away hastily, 22 And he gathered [his people] and called out 23 and proclaimed, and he said, 'I am your Lord, the Most High!' 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
