He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 And he feareth 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
