He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 For him who does not care, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 and in awe [of God] 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and herbage 28 and olives, and palms, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
Almighty God's Truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
