He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 and fears (Allah), 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and pious. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 to yield therein corn, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 olives, dates, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 his consort, his sons, 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
