He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 And he fears, 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 noble and pious. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
