He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 to him thou attendest 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 and fearfully, 9 you ignore him. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 On honourable pages. 13 lofty and pure, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 his mother, his father, 35 wife and sons, 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
