He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 You pay full attention, 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 And he fears, 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 In honored books, 13 exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 olives, dates, 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 with darkness overspread: 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
