He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 you attend to him, 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 And he fears, 9 you ignore him. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And grapes and herbage 28 olives, dates, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 his wife and his sons: 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
